A special one next Thursday, and a first for us.
Tony Battista is joined by Nick Battista, his son and an options trader in his own right. Nick co-hosted Johnny Trades, Market Mindset and Bat vs Bat on the tastylive network, shows built around specific trade management tactics and fast-paced live trading. He’s since left, and these days he’s focused on the short end, mostly zero DTE.
Tony Rihan is travelling, so this one is the two Battistas.
Three things they’re going to get into.
Short-term trading, and mostly the very short end. Nick trades zero DTE. That is about as far from the forty-five-day premium selling we run in the portfolios as you can get while still selling options, and the differences are the interesting part: what you give up, what you gain, and why the management rules stop being the same rules.
Computer and automated trading. What can actually be automated, what shouldn’t be, and what changes about a strategy once a machine is executing it rather than you.
And how to use your trading platform properly. This is the one most people skip and then pay for. Order types you aren’t using, analysis tools sitting behind a tab you’ve never opened, and the difference between knowing a trade and being able to put it on cleanly when it matters.
One more thing worth knowing: September 24 is an expiration Thursday, and Portfolio 2 has two short puts running into it. So a conversation about short-dated trading happens on a day short-dated positions come off the book.
We’re not going to pretend we know exactly where an hour with those two goes. That’s usually the best part.
This is a members-only live session with Tony Battista and Nick Battista.

Grow Your Pile Office Hours is educational and is not investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Options involve risk and are not suitable for all investors. Strategies discussed carry different risk profiles; long-premium strategies can lose the entire premium paid, and short-premium strategies can produce losses that far exceed the credit received. A short put can require you to buy at the strike and the loss can be substantial in a falling market. Read the Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options before trading.
